I am seriously debating some life choices, since I kinda want to read the second volume. This manga is beyond cheesy, like soggy nachos cheesy. I recommend this manga to younger manga readers who like romance and won't mind a very silly premise. That being said, can I just say that I was fangirling throughout the whole manga? It brought back such nostalgic wonder! I can still remember being completely obsessed with the anime when I was little, so reading the manga brought back all those feelings of enjoyment! Team Kisshu FO LIFE! I'm not saying it's impossible to like this if you're not a youngin, I'm just saying the probability that you won't like it is probably high, especially if this isn't your first magical girl rodeo. If you are not the target demographic (age 10-12, preferably not a veteran of the genre) then there is a high chance that you will not enjoy this manga. This is by no means a manga masterpiece, but it does have more than enough to tick all the magical girl boxes to keep it fun. I think that's what it essentially boils down to. age 10-12! So she delighted in this show about young girls being genetically altered to have animal powers and stop aliens from taking over the world because she was the target age. It had action, adventure, and romance! (albeit a bit cheesy) But she loved it, because the target audience was just her age. This manga was sooooo fanfictony that I'm surprised I loved it as much as I did! Even as a kid!Ī long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, there lived a young lass who was obsessed with a television show called Tokyo Mew Mew. Let's just say the guy rang up my order really fast. 'It's about two men who live in a Mary-Poppins-style-cafe and secretly conduct experiments on animals but one day they inject their experiment into a young girl and she turns into a human-cat hybrid and with the help of a small group of other girls that were injected with other endangered species genes they have to join together to save the world from really cute aliens.' Naturally, due to my immense excitement, he asked what the manga was about. The guy at the front register got such a kick out of it that he ended up giving me the books for 'buy one get one free' price.

I went to a thrift store and found the complete Tokyo Mew Mew manga collection and flipped out.
